As a member of the Excavation Team, the Grader Operator is responsible for operating Grader and other equipment (as assigned) during construction, snow removal and related activities. Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and clean, lubricate and refill equipment, and keep maintenance records for each piece of equipment. Maintain active communication with all other crew members and ensures strict adherence to construction and safety regulations. Visually inspect construction sites to check for land grading, underground utility locations, overhead obstacles, and other obstacles that may deter or affect construction. You must also ensure Alternative Excavation’s Core Values of Trust, Integrity, Quality, Respect, Caring and Accountability; current standards; safety regulations; policies; and procedures are adhered to.
As a Grader Operator, you will be working under the direction of the crew Foreman or Crew Leader and will need to follow their direction and leadership when asked to. Our work schedule is typically Monday to Friday with an average of 100hr pay periods. We pay OT after 100 hrs. We ask that you come to work willing and ready each and every day and work to the best of your ability. Requirements:
- Over 1500 hours of experience on Grader is highly preferred
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
- Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
- Driver’s license required; Class 1 is an asset.
- Mental alertness
- Ability to consistently meet production expectations with strong organizational, problem solving, and communication skills
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.).
- Mechanical skills to correctly identify equipment issues.
- Self-starter who demonstrates initiative
- Can work well independently, as well as with a team
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Speak, read, and write English
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and address personnel issues respectfully understanding and living company Core Values
Work Conditions:
- Work is performed in a vehicle and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- 10 hour shifts standard; some weekend work may be required.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., with occasional heavy lifting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Work near equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
- Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold.
