JOURNEYMAN CARPENTER

Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Journeyman Carpenter to join our Horizon Team! You will be responsible for safe construction, installation and repairs. You will also be required to design and complete installations in both residential and commercial glass.

To ensure success as a Journeyman Carpenter, you should be able to interpret architectural blueprints and ensure the safety and quality of the final product. Ultimately, a top-notch Journeyman Carpenter should show exceptional attention to detail and have excellent analytical thinking abilities.

Primary Responsibility

• Reading and interpreting architectural blueprints, diagrams and plans
• Determining the type and amount of material required for each project
• Transporting the materials and equipment to each job site
• Potential for advancement and growth within the company
• Constructing wooden structures such as concrete forms, frameworks, scaffolding and similar elements
• Installing wooden structures such as frames, stairways, etc.
• Inspecting the integrity of structures upon installation
• Monitoring inventory and replenishing supplies as needed
• Complying with all applicable safety regulations
• Training and managing apprentices and subordinates

Qualifications:

• Must currently reside in Canada
• Valid Driver’s License
• Completion of Carpentry Apprenticeship Program
• At least three years experience as a carpenter
• Good math and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must
• Ability to think fast on your feet and confidently/positively overcome adversities on the job site
• Experience installing windows and doors
• Experience with commercial aluminum system an asset
• Able to work independently and/or with a team
• Reliable, independent and organized
• Fall arrest training or aerial lift truck knowledge is a strong asset.
• Outstanding critical thinking skills
• Attention to detail and respectful to company property/possessions
• Flexible to perform service jobs when required
• Able to read, understand and perform site measurements
• Blueprint reading
• Provide photo report when required
• Follow detailed instructions efficiently and effectively
• Capable of working long hours and in harsh weather conditions if needed
• Willing to travel
• Able to perform tasks such as lifting, climbing and rigging
