The City of Cornwall is a progressive community of 47,000 people situated on the banks of the St. Lawrence River in Eastern Ontario. The City seeks an accomplished leader to serve as the Chief of Fire Services who will be a champion of organizational change to institute best practices and inspire teams as the City of Cornwall grows and prospers; specifically as it relates to fire suppression, rescue, prevention public education and training within the Fire Services Department.

Reporting to the CAO, the Fire Chief will provide progressive leadership, continuous improvement activities and strategic direction to the Cornwall Fire Service that employs over sixty people across suppression, fire prevention and training areas. With a demonstrated background in building teamwork and cohesion within all levels of the Fire Service, you will also implement the strategic plan and capital budgets for the two Fire Stations within the City. Additionally, you will be responsible for ongoing leadership of the administrative and operational aspects, ensuring the proper enforcement of legislation, regulations, and standards within the local community.

As an ideal candidate, you will be a role model for the City of Cornwall values of leadership, integrity, collaboration, inclusiveness, and diversity while publicly advancing the benefits of bilingualism and sustainability. Your ten years of progressive leadership experience is also coupled with a post-secondary education in business, public administration, or related field. Rounding out your experience, will be your exceptional communication and decision-making skills along with a proven track record in developing others. With Cornwall’s rich history in both official languages, bilingualism will be considered an asset.
