THE Client: Owner/Developer – Multi-Res / Commercial – Family Owned

Opportunity: Financial Controller

As a member of the Senior Management team, you will be responsible for integrating the financial reporting of the organization with the operations and provide timely and comprehensive financial and variance reports monthly. You are responsible for meeting your employer’s goals while providing strategic financial input, ensuring controls and procedures are in place to safeguard company assets, function as a business partner to the management team by providing financial guidance and assistance on business issues and lead and manage the accounting team, ensuring it is effective and efficient.

Key Duties & Accountabilities

• Work with the management team to create annual budgets and forecast together with cash flow projects,
• Oversee the operations of the accounting department including A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations and capital asset ledger,
• Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to uncover opportunities for cost reductions and assess variations from the plan,
• Improve and develop internal reporting and results analytics,
• Oversee and manage development budgets, including ongoing cost reporting,
• Manage and process all development invoices and payments,
• Prepare regular investor update reports,
• Perform detailed analysis on cost accounts and understand key pro forma drivers

Qualifications:

• Canadian accounting designation required CMA, CGA or CA.
• Minimum eight (8) years of progressive accounting experience.
• Proven leadership role in real property operations & development environment.
• Ability to lead, manage and develop a team to execute projects including Acquisition within Finance and other business areas.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to business partner with senior members of the management team, executives, auditors, vendors and team members.
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills, polished professional;
