The Mustard Seed is seeking to expand our events team, so are looking to fill a role in Edmonton. We are looking for Event Coordinators with 1 to 2 years of experience who are adaptable, take initiative and works collaboratively with all stakeholders. Reporting to the Campaign Development Officer, this role is responsible for planning and executing impactful fundraising events throughout the year as part of a dynamic fundraising team to meet the fund development and stewardship goals of The Mustard Seed.

Responsibilities involve events management and execution including the planning, design, and production of fundraising events while managing all project delivery elements within time limits, the preparation of formal briefing materials with event details for distribution, and to organize the logistics of assigned events. This role will ensure event stays on budget, monitoring financial commitments during lead-up to event and making alternate arrangements with supervisor and finally to determining benchmarks for success prior to each assigned event, evaluating their effectiveness after the event, and incorporating improvements for future planning. Some travel to assigned regional events to provide on-site support and management, working with team members and volunteers, will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Related post-secondary education or 1-2 years of professional experience managing in-person and digital events
  • Ability to be creative and “think outside the box” to design events for the purposes of revenue and brand-raising
  • Goal-oriented with a passion to build hope and well-being for those living in poverty
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to strict deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Provide donation and sponsorship support, adhere to budgets, negotiate contracts, and build productive business relationships
  • Proven ability to oversee 20 staff and volunteers per project; excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency in MS Office software, SharePoint and social media tools; knowledge of donor and event management databases considered an asset
  • Highly organized, budgeting, logistic skills
  • Clear and effective communicator

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week. Flexibility with evening and weekend work will be required
  • Fast paced environment with periods of high-volume workload
  • Frequent travel required. A valid class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle required.
  • Extended computer use, sitting, standing, walking, and must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Driver’s Abstract, $2 Million Liability Insurance and Employment Security Check is required
  • Employment Security Check is required.
