Environmental Compliance Coordinator

BioVectra Inc. is a leading bio-science business in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, focused on contract manufacturing and product development of active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical intermediates, and bioreagents.

BIOVECTRAhas an opening for an Environmental Compliance Coordinator. This is a permanent, full-time position located in Charlottetown, PEI.

The candidate will be responsible for:

• Developing, implementing, and maintaining written environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
• Ensuring environmental compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal regulations.
• Monitoring and measuring environmental metrics.
• Ensure chemical regulatory compliance based on New Substances Notification Regulations, including the preparation of New Substance Notifications (NSN) to federal government for applicable chemicals, polymers, and microorganisms.
• Preparing and submitting National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) report.
• Preparing and submitting annual report to NS Department of Environment.
• Monitoring and calculating green-house gas emissions.
• Ensuring compliance with provincial spill reporting requirements.
• Coordinating company’s groundwater monitoring program.
• Providing training to employees on company’s EHS procedures.
• Performing internal EHS audits

The successful candidate for this position should have:

• Bachelor of Science degree.
• Knowledge of all levels of environmental regulations.
• Regulatory Affairs Certification an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent decision making and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a multi-task team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills are necessary.
• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skill.
• Strong background in microbiology.
• Comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations to small and medium sized groups of people.
