Job Title: English for Employment Instructor

Job Type: Part-time (20 hours per week)

Start Date Aug. 30th, 2021

Remuneration:$29.73 per hour

Responsible to:Employment & Language Coordinators

Job Summary: Under the direction of the aforementioned Program Coordinators, the role of the successful applicant will be to increase the job readiness of newcomers who are wanting to transition into the labour market. The main responsibility of the English for Employment Instructor is to design appropriate program themes, structure and deliver information covering subjects related to vocabulary, workplace culture, job industry exploration, resume creation, etc. to Permanent Residents with mid level English proficiency (CLB 5-7).

Primary Responsibilities:

· Develop course content and lesson planning themed around employment

· Provide instruction in English with a special emphasis on speaking and listening

· Provide appropriate evaluation, assessment and feedback for students

· Coordinating regular community outings (ie. field-trips, visits to local employers)

· Maintain records of achievement, attendance, and other student related information

· Follow regulations and policies adopted by the YWCA

· All other tasks as requested by Manager

Education and experience:

· CERTSEL or TESOL, or other accredited English as a subsequent language competencies, or a teaching certificate

· Ability and/or keen interest in working with individuals with special learning needs

· Experience with instructing academic/conversational English/ESL is an asset

· Educational program planning/delivery experience is an asset

· Knowledge and/or experience with group facilitation is an asset

· Experience with curriculum development is an asset
