Aecon Utilities is ready to become Canada’s #1 utility construction provider and we’re looking for an Engineering Design Co-op Student to help us get there!Reporting to the Project Manager, the Engineering Design Co-op Student will support the project design team with project tracking, reporting on various telecommunication projects, and administrative responsibilities.Co-op terms vary in length, this opportunity is looking for an 18 month work term.What You’ll Do Here

• Creating and maintaining Telecom design requests within our internal system
• Updating and managing all designated projects/jobs in the client’s software system
• Ensuring the designer is an alignment with the customer’s request through proper communication
• Creating and monitoring project schedules and submitting them for review to the customer and the client
• Collaborating with CAD Techs and Designers
• Acting as the point of contact for customers including providing customer updates and answering inquiries in a timely manner
• Creating and maintaining trackers for project statuses to ensure all revisions are recorded and the parties involved are updated
• Managing and supporting multiple projects within varying locations at one time
• Uploading design plans and issuing them out to customers
• Responsible for submitting permits to obtain the necessary municipal consents
• Negotiating with vendors and/or customers as required
• Working as a team with the construction crew to ensure the design plans are accurately communicated
• Address customer and client escalations in a timely manner
• Responsible to work with the procurement team to order materials and follo-up on delivery statuses
• Responsible for invoicing the client for work completed
• Issuing and tracking PO requests and sending them to vendors for payment
• Other duties and responsibilities as required

What You Bring To The Team

• Current student – Civil or other Engineering Disciplines / Construction Technologist / Technician
• Knowledge of the Telecommunications Industry conside red an asset
• Sound computer skills – MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project
• Strong communication skills – oral and written
• Self motivated with good organizational skills
• General understanding of CAD and Quality Control
• Innovative thinking and results orientated
• Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within a team environment
