Engineer-in-Training (EIT)

Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

As Engineer-In-Training (EIT) with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and fast-paced group of Engineers.

The role will provide assistance in the execution of facility integrity assignments, including asset inspections, facility maintenance and repair projects, and the execution of assessments for facility assets. This position will be based in Calgary and will report to Manager of Facility Integrity.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage facility integrity inspection projects for piping, tanks, pressure vessels and other facility assets.
• Assist with the collection, processing, and storage, of facility integrity records and data contained therein.
• Assist with the development of standards, procedures, and other controlled documents, for the continuous improvement of the facility integrity management program.
• Manage, or provide assistance with the execution of, facility asset maintenance and repair projects.
• Assist with the execution of the annual facility integrity risk assessment, or other engineering assessments for facility assets.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

• Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Process or Petroleum preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in oil and gas facility or process safety
• Registration with Association of Professionals in Engineering and Geoscience in Alberta (APEGA) is required.
• Pipeline engineering and operational experience preferred.
• Proven ability in Mechanical, civil, electrical, process, or petroleum engineering a must.
• Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions.
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to navigate and facilitate difficult conversations.

Other Requirements and Information

• Valid Canadian driver’s license
• 10-20% travel to various site locations in Alberta and British Columbia will be required.
