We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team.

Our Electrical Engineering team in BC engages in the design of various projects in the commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, light industrial and transportation sectors in BC and the Yukon. Leading an electrical project delivery team, this position will be responsible for electrical design, documentation preparation, construction reviews, administration, client communication and project management

Responsibilities
  • Understanding and practicing safe work procedures
  • Project Management
  • Leading a project delivery team
  • Working on a wide range of project assignments within the electrical buildings field, including power distribution, infrastructure, lighting, life safety, communications, data and security systems
  • Taking responsibility for project assignments from concept design to completion of construction
  • Communicating effectively with the design team, clients, design professionals, contractors and authorities having jurisdiction
  • Reliably and promptly responding and attending to clients’ needs
  • Understanding and adhering to project budgets and timelines
  • Maintaining accurate and prompt project tracking, management and billing.
  • Following established quality assurance and quality control processes
  • Reviewing and assessing existing systems and preparing condition reports
  • Preparing feasibility studies
  • Preparing load calculations utilizing industry standard load and lighting analysis software
  • Selecting systems and equipment and preparing project specifications
  • Coordinating preparation of project drawings utilizing industry standard CAD and BIM software.
  • Reviewing project construction progress and managing construction phase administrative tasks
  • Participating in the preparation of fee proposals and business development activities where requested
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • P.Eng. registration with EGBC or another Canadian provincial Engineering Association
  • 5+ years of experience in consulting electrical design engineering for buildings
  • Ability to lead a design/project delivery team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to represent WSP in project meetings and client meetings
  • A “can do” attitude, courteous communication, an organized approach to workplace tasks and responsibilities, attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to deliver comprehensive design submissions, often with demanding timelines
  • Experience in creating tender document packages with drawings and specifications
  • Experience with site reviews of building electrical systems.
  • An extensive understanding of building construction and building electrical systems
  • A detailed working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code and the National Building Code of Canada
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and REVIT are required. Proficiency with AGi and ETAP or equivalent industry standard software is considered an asset
