What you offer?

Some of the tasks of this position include:

  • Intake, assessment, development of activities, and case management with highly barriered clients seeking employment
  • Marketing employment services and programs to clients and employers, developing employer contacts, providing current labour market info, client support, and assisting in curriculum adjustment and facilitation
  • Research specific sectors and industries to ease the transition for clients into their field or related fields
  • Providing employment consultation to clients and maintaining and developing career action plans
  • Assisting client with job search and making direct contact with potential employers
  • Monitor job placements and ensure training objectives are achieved as outlined in the training agreement
  • Organize and participate in various event planning (example: Canada Career Week, Opportunities Expo)
  • Coordinate and facilitate outreach activities for programs and services
  • Arranging guest speakers and hiring events for the centre
  • Ensure effective, efficient use of resources and provide statistical data
  • Ensure quality of the Y experience for program participants
  • Prepare all statistical and required reports and appropriate file documentation
  • Implement procedures for the operation of programs within the guidelines and contractual obligations
  • Support different organizational projects as needed

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field

Language

  • Fluent in English and French essential

Experience, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in job development/marketing, employment counseling
  • Marketing and human resources experience
  • Strong leadership skills to facilitate program operations
  • Ability to work with employers and build and maintain relationships
  • Experience with diverse individuals and employers in an employment context
  • High level of interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Superior problem solving, research, and creative skills
  • Ability to work with clients with diverse backgrounds and skill levels

Additional Requirements:

  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • Criminal Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector, not more than 6 months old is required
  • Annually all staff must complete the mandatory training for the Protecting Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Persons, and submit the certificate of completion.
