THE POSITION

The Journeyman Electrician, based out of Grande Prairie, Alberta will be responsible for performing routine electrical maintenance/troubleshooting and repair duties along the KAPS pipeline, as well as supporting project work when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance as per facility electrical and preventative maintenance programs.
• Troubleshoot electrical related problems and develop solutions and work plans for implementation.
• Maintain, repair, test and installation of heat trace, VFD’s, UPS, Motors, Transformers, Switchgear and other assorted electrical components.
• Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports as required.
• Participate in maintenance and project electrical installations as required.
• Participate in HSE and maintenance meetings as required by the facility.
• Comply with Canadian Electrical Codes and OH&S Standards, safety training requirements and site and corporate safe operating practices.
  
  

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and service oriented with the following qualifications:

• Electrical Journeyman Certification in Alberta or Red Seal Designation.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Electrical Journeyman working in the oil and gas industry – preference will be given to those with previous industrial maintenance experience.
• Understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code and Occupational Health & Safety Codes.
• Experience with 480, 600, and 4160 volt equipment.
• Experience with Low and Medium Voltage switch gear, motors, MMC’s and VFD’s.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills supported by basic critical thinking.
• Self-starter who is able to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
• Highly organized, reliable individual with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• MAXIMO knowledge would be an asset.
• Valid Drivers License.
• Physically able to perform all components of the position.
• Able to work in seasonal weather conditions.
• Must be available to work overtime and callouts as required.
