Electrical Engineer (Electrical Motor Programming)

The Vicinity Motor Corporation (Previously Grande West Transportation Group) is a Canadian bus manufacturer which designs, engineers and manufactures mid-size buses for transit authorities and commercial enterprises. The Vicinity bus is available in a variety of models powered by clean diesel or CNG, designed with affordability, accessibility and environmental responsibility in mind. Further to this, as a part of the global transition to sustainable transportation, the Vicinity Motor Corporation will be introducing the Vicinity Lightning EV bus.

Position: Senior Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Perform design and verification of electrical systems for EV-Bus and EV-Truck
• Design of HV and LV wire harnesses compliant with relevant electrical standards
• Specification and selection of DC/DC converters for use in road vehicles
• Develop component design requirements from system requirements
• Develop documentation to support customer integration
• Support Certification and compliance testing(Environmental, EMC/EMI)
• Troubleshooting/resolution of existing electrical components and systems
• Work with customers and sales to develop custom integration solutions
• Design and implementation of control logic including handling of complex control systems involving state machines, alarm handling, PID loops and similar
• Implementing and testing software for communication to CAN devices as well as handling of signals from digital and analog devices
• Preparation of technical documents, including component/system design documents
• Verification and validation of software through inspection, simulation and testing
• Troubleshooting of system and software behavior using a variety of techniques

Requirements:

• Must have an engineering degree from an Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics program
• Must have at least 5 years’ experience developing software for control systems
• Experience with electric vehicles, road vehicles or other mobile equipment is an asset
• Experience with high-voltage vehicle wiring and standards
• Experience contributing to hazard analysis - DFMEAs
• Experience with Codes, Standards and compliance issues of electrical systems in road vehicles
• Experience with ISO6469-3, LV123 or other electric road vehicle safety standards
• Experience with Automotive test standards such as ISO16750
• Experience with functional safety standards such as ISO26262
• Experience with DC/DC’s and knowledge of architectures and semi-conductor technologies
• Experience with ECU’s or microcontrollers
• Experience with instrumentation including pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
• Ability to read Process & Instrumentation Diagrams
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills and good listening skills
• Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
• Ability to understand and implement state and process logic, digital and analog control systems
• Experience commissioning, tuning, and troubleshooting control systems
• Commitment to delivering high quality software following established processes, procedures and coding styles

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
