Break Coverage ECE/ECEA Position

Position Start Date: Immediately

Position End Date: permanent

Posting closes: Open until filled

Hours of work: Shift is 9:30am-4:00pm daily.

Duties will include:

• Assist regular staff with and monitor activity programs designed for young children
• Lead children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing craft materials
• Arrange rooms and furniture for lunch and rest periods
• Assist with proper eating, and modelling behaviours
• Help implement programs designed to meet children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative, cultural, emotional and developmental needs in a play-based environment
• Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music
• Assist in build children’s social and interpersonal skills and self-esteem by following routines and positive guidance policies that allow children to feel secure, comfortable and safe.

All applicants must have:

• A B.C. License to Practice as an Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Educator Assistant
• Must meet BC Child Care licensing requirements for valid first aid certification
• Signed authorization to conduct a criminal record check
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with the ECE and rest of team

Rate of Pay: $20-$26(including wage enhancement) per hour to start
