Position Title: Early Childhood Educator, IT (IT License preferred)
Location: Kids at Heather Child Care Center
710 W 12th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5Z 0A5
Terms: Permanent, Part-Time: 20 hours/week
Shift: Monday to Friday, shifts 2:00pm – 6:00pm
Rate: $22.24 per hour for ECE License & $23.20 per hour for ECE IT and SN License. Plus an additional $4 per hour for Licensed ECE’s as per the Provincial Government’s Wage Enhancement Initiative
Term Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Reports To: Team Lead, Child Care

This posting is governed by the Collective Agreement between the YMCA Child Care Centers and BCGEU Local 303.

The YMCA of Greater Vancouver is the largest provider of licensed childcare in Western Canada, with over thirty Early Years locations across the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Sunshine Coast. Featuring our YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, our childcare centers offer infant, toddler, 3-5 and preschool programs. Nature & Scope:

We are seeking a caring and creative Early Childhood Educator to provide a safe and engaging experience for all children at the YMCA. Following the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, the educator plans and leads activities based on the interests and the developmental level of the children in our care.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality care and creative programming to children
  • Build meaningful and positive relationships with children and families
  • Work with your team to create a supportive and safe environment for both staff and families
  • Deliver high quality and age-appropriate programs based on the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum
  • Provide active supervision at all times and work as a team to support transitions between play areas
  • Use our parent communication app (Weemarkable) to provide daily communication and updates
  • Keep a clean and safe environment – in all program areas and common spaces (with enhanced cleaning protocols for COVID-19)
  • Follow all YMCA, Child Care Facility Licensing (CCFL) and legal requirements, including YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum standards



Qualifications/Experience:


  • Basic ECE certification from a program recognized in British Columbia
  • Infant Toddler Educator (ITE) License is an asset
  • Special Needs Educator (SNE) is an asset
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Any training related to child growth and development is an asset
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate required (can be obtained with in 30 days after start date)
  • 3 professional reference checks to be completed
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
  • The YMCA has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy requiring all staff and volunteers to be fully vaccinated, as per the timeline set out by the province
