Your Opportunity

Stantec requires an experienced DevOps Architect with the ability to design and build high quality solutions to achieve business objectives. We are on a journey around DevSecOps and we are seeking individuals who can work on their own and as part of a team to deliver world-class solutions. Automation should be a way of life and we are looking for an evangelist who can break down walls and silos.

As a DevOps Architect, you will become part of our team, building trust, providing technical leadership, and managing client relationships on multiple projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Work with our stakeholders to discover technical and business requirements, assist in project plan creation and documentation for projects of all sizes.
• Participate in sprint planning activities including story point estimation and ceremonies such as standups, backlog grooming and story refinement, planning and retrospectives.
• Implement technical project work.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend software and technology packages.
• Provide application or site-wide performance optimization and capacity planning.
• Make and document best practice recommendations.
• Create automated provisioning solutions for servers, environments, cloud, and container platforms.
• Continuously learn and improve existing technical skills, acquiring new skills that will be useful for future work.
• Be an expert on a wide range of tools and platforms and embrace an ever-evolving technology landscape.
• Participate in our pre-sale and client acquisition process to define scope of engagement and estimate effort.
• Act as a role model and mentor to other team members ensuring the excellence of our technical deliverables.
• Plan, configure, and manage resources on Microsoft Azure and other cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with the IT team to meet and exceed the strictest compliance requirements for cloud system security
• Collaboration with the networking team to design networks, vnets, subnets.
• Enable the product and infrastructure engineering teams to build our world-class cloud platform while protecting internal and customer data

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• 4 years’ experience in a DevOps position
• 4 years’ experience in the administration of enterprise-grade Azure infrastructures
• Background in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible, ARM Templates
• Proficiency in infrastructure, service and application monitoring tools
• Experience with HashiCorp tools (Nomad/Consul/Vault/Packer)
• Experience in operating highly available and critical environments
• Knowledge of Kubernetes, Azure AKS, Datafactory, Databricks
• Experience in Agile Development, and Jira toolset.
• Ability to produce high quality project artifacts including presentations, requirements and decision logs, design documents, architecture diagrams, demos, user guides and reports.
• Experience with managing multiple stakeholders (business and technical) on large projects including other partners and vendors.
• Strong ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders.
• Understanding of the principles of data security, including encryption, access control and identity management, and the technical application of associated policies, such as separation of duties and data custodianship.

Education and Experience

Minimum acceptable levels of education and experience are:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a a related field
• Three to six years of coding experience

Typical office environment working with computers, remaining sedentary and viewing screens for long periods of time. The office may be in the incumbent’s home and must be ergonomically acceptable, providing ongoing comfort and safety.
