POSITION:Development and Regulatory Coordinator

COMPANY PROFILE:
Aquilini Group (“AG”) is a diversified family business founded in Vancouver, BC more than 50 years ago with roots in the real estate development and construction industry. In addition to its ongoing pursuits in real estate development and construction, AG has expanded its holdings to include assets in the sports & entertainment, renewable energy, aquaculture, tourist attractions, restaurants, and food & beverage industries.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development and Regulatory Coordinator is an entry level position and will work with governing and monitoring bodies to ensure project compliance with government laws and regulations, and will submit land and building development applications and monitor construction projects. This is an ideal learning and training position for a motivated person who wishes to learn real estate development through mentorship from experienced industry professionals. In addition to understanding, and at times participating in the negotiation and development of rules and requirements, the coordinator will also be tasked with ensuring follow-through and verifying and recording the company’s progress.

In addition to producing reports, the Regulatory & Development Coordinator will contribute to analyzing company policies and protocols, which requires regular communication with management and other departments. The coordinator will be mentored and supervised by senior company personnel.

Note that this position is in the offices of a working farm located at 16351 Aquilini Avenue, Pitt Meadows BC. There is no public transit to this farm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Monitor company compliance with all regulations and laws pertaining to company business
  • Under the supervision of senior company personnel, will prepare and submit land and property development applications to local governments
  • Under the supervision of senior company personnel, will assist with and monitor construction projects
  • Compile and maintain appropriate technical documents for regulatory submissions
  • Conduct research to support regulatory submissions
  • Prepare and submit documentation to regulatory agencies
  • Liaise with local authorities to influence the need to balance business objectives, the costs and the needs of the respective regulators
  • Enlist and coordinate external consultants where necessary
  • Communicate the company’s compliance to identified and anticipated stakeholders including neighbours of the business operation

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree
  • Experience working in a government permits and licensing capacity, or relevant private sector experience is desirable but not mandatory
  • Ability to relate professionally to all levels of employees, external authorities, and consultants with a high level of maturity, diplomacy, and a positive demeanor
  • Solid research skills
  • Professional personal presentation
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with an ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Demonstrates an ongoing and proactive ability to learn new skills
  • Must hold valid Drivers License and have access to a vehicle, as there will be occasional travel required
