OVERVIEW

Vertex is currently accepting applications for a Decommissioning Project Engineer/Technologist. This position requires an individual with a high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and a strong client-focus to lead the team to success. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of senior level project management experience in facility & pipeline engineering and construction within the oil and gas industry.


CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of facility and pipeline construction and/or decommissioning experience
  • Project Management, scheduling, cost estimating and construction management experience is an asset
  • Mechanical engineering background considered an asset
  • CET, EIT, P.Eng., or PMP designations are preferred
  • Experience in an EPCM company preferred
  • AER One-Stop submission experience
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook, Abadata, Cartofact and/or other GIS system is required
  • Positive attitude and collaborative approach to problem-solving

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support several field-based decommissioning teams
  • Generate DBMs, cost estimates and schedules for decommissioning scopes-of-work
  • Plan crew mobilization and deployment schedules to maximize utilization and minimize travel time between sites
  • Generate Area-Based Closure plans for facilities, wellsite equipment, and pipeline systems – decommissioning and abandonments
  • Develop and codify field-based decommissioning procedures
  • Promote a “Safety First” culture within the field-based decommissioning crews
  • Provide daily report updates to clients on project progress
  • Review field generated costs and update cost tracking systems
  • Troubleshoot field problems and collaborate with on-site field foremen and supervisors
  • Compile and report safety metrics into Company systems
  • Provide input on crew and equipment selection to maximize field productivity (KPIs, etc)
  • Work with Company leadership to develop new clients and opportunities

  • This position will be based out of Calgary, Alberta
