If you are a DATA driven professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our EDMONTON, AB or CALGARY, ab location, you will support the R&D teams for Emerson’s Zedi Cloud SCADA Solutions using complex data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and creating models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. The use of advanced analytics is expected along with statistical approaches.


AS DATA SCIENTIST , YOU WILL:

• Responsible for the development and deployment of advanced analytics solutions
• Data mining using state-of-the-art methods, such as K-Means and machine learning
• Selecting data features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques and others
• Extending company’s data with third party sources of information when needed
• Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
• Preparing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner

WHO YOU ARE:



You think about the whole system. You try multiple times using multiple methods to find the right solution. You persist in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks.


REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree from a University or an accredited Technology College
• 7+ years hands-on experience with development of commercial software applications
• Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Python, MatLab, etc.
• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Good applied statisics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Solid understanding of software developing practices such as SCRUM, AGILE
• Practiced in data visualizations tools, such as Tableau, Gplot, etc.
• Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL
• Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB
• Skilled with scripting and programming skills
