About the Department of Child Studies & Social Work

The Department of Child Studies & Social Work at Mount Royal University invites applications for part-time contract-sessional faculty positions, to teach courses in the Bachelor of Child Studies degree, for the Winter 2023 term.

The Winter 2023 semester commences January 5 and concludes April 21, 2023.

The Department of Child Studies and Social Work offer the Degree, Bachelor of Child Studies and Bachelor of Social Work, and the Diploma, Social Work. With a progressive approach to studies that focuses on children, youth, families and communities, Mount Royal University’s distinctive four-year Bachelor of Child Studies program emphasizes experiential learning in each of its two majors; Early Learning and Child Care, and Child and Youth Care Counsellor. The program provides a theoretical foundation and valuable hands-on learning opportunities in and outside the classroom. Going beyond traditional program offerings, the Bachelor of Child Studies focuses on creating experienced, well-rounded graduates who are prepared to become strong advocates for children, youth and families.

About the Role

The department is seeking enthusiastic professionals with the ability to teach the following courses in Winter 2023:

Name of Course: CYCC 2226 001 Assessment and Intervention

Days & Times Offered: Lecture - Friday 8:30 – 11:20am

Course Description: Students will apply developmental theories and practices in socio-cultural contexts. Students will learn to assess, evaluate and provide interventions for vulnerable children, youth and families.

Responsibilities

• Instruction: course delivery including preparation of course outline, course activities, lesson preparation and assessments, and course D2L site; and
• Administration: submit course attendance sheets, course outline signature forms, input final grades upon course completion, and participate in scheduled program meetings

Qualifications

• The successful applicant must have a Masters degree in a related field, previous post-secondary experience and be qualified to teach courses Bachelor of Child Studies degree.
