Creative Design Manager

As our in-house creative design manager, you love working with graphic art and visual materials to bring brands to life through creative. Supporting the team with brand, trade marketing, communications and digital materials is your passion. You are excited by the challenge of taking ideas and briefs and transforming them into creative concepts. You have a magic touch with visual composition but also the strong ability to manage time, projects and problem solve on-the-go. You have a strong creative sense and technical ability, as well as working in multiple mediums, from video assets, print assets, digital assets. You work seamlessly across departments and external partners to see projects through from beginning to end and take pride in your work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Creative Design

• Translate marketing goals into effective design solutions that resonate with target audiences
• Working with the brand team, translate conceptual ideas into visually compelling and impactful designs that convey key marketing messages
• Using the brand’s visual identity guidelines, ensure design concepts and executions are consistent and align with brand strategy and business objectives
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions and help build innovative design concepts that push creative boundaries and drive engagement
• Develop assets to support marketing campaigns, product launches, and other initiatives
• Ideate and create marketing assets for use across all channels: in-store, website, newsletter, social media, events, internal documents and more
• Create typographic, photographic, illustrative, and graphic elements for all brands in our portfolio
• Capture product photos and videos for social media, product marketing materials, etc.
• Lead in-house consumer-facing packaging design from labels to primary and secondary packaging
• Present design concepts and strategies to cross-functional teams and senior management, with clear rationale and a point of view
• Oversee production of assets working with print vendors to deliver final materials to spec Conduct thorough quality checks and review materials to maintain a high level of accuracy and consistency
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including retail marketing, sales, and product teams, to understand design needs and deliver effective solutions
• Liaise with external vendors, agencies, and freelancers for specialized design projects, ensuring clear communication, timely delivery, and adherence to brand guidelines
Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices to continually enhance the team’s design capabilities and outputs

Project Management and Leadership

• Oversee graphic design across the portfolio of brands at Pure Sunfarms
• Lead, mentor, and inspire our in-house design team, fostering a collaborative and creative environment
• Prioritize design projects based on business priorities and resources, managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities to team members to enhance their skillset and career growth
• Manage workloads, allocate resources, and ensure efficient project execution within the design team
Seek opportunities to improve design processes, workflows, and collaboration methods within the marketing and creative teams

OTHER DUTIES

At Pure Sunfarms, we are all growers at heart. Our plants and processes require in-person care and attention to ensure we’re bringing the best our plants and people have to offer to our consumers. This means other duties may arise since we work together to ensure we support all business activities – seed to sale.

This role is hybrid, which requires you to work on-site a minimum of three (3) days per week in a role that provides core support functions to the business.

YOUR BRAND, YOUR STORY

We already know you have a keen eye for design and marketing, but we want to know more about your strengths. You’re good at the following:

• 8-10+ years of relevant work experience with digital design
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
• Strong design skills and ability to apply a brand’s visual identity to marketing materials
• Demonstrated ability to produce print-ready and digital-ready materials
• Ability to visualize and execute creative solutions for marketing opportunities or challenges
• Strong capability to distill complex information into clear, on-brand assets
• High level of proficiency with Adobe, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign & Microsoft programs
• Relevant hands-on experience in photography and videography
• Must have strong photography and videography editing skills
• Solid experience with packaging design and layouts
• Robust project management skills: proven ability to meet deadlines and communicate with the team on progress
• Must have a collaborative spirt that thrives in a driven, social, and entrepreneurial environment
• Robust understanding in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and/or cannabis industry is considered an asset
• Experience with User Experience Design (UX design) is considered an asset
• In-house brand experience is an asset
• Must have the ability to maintain and pass an RCMP criminal record check and obtain security clearance.
