THORNHILL / TORONTO

WSP is currently seeking a Senior Community Engagement Specialist to join our Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design department, located at our Toronto and Thornhill offices. Reporting to the Manager, this position will be primarily responsible for the preparation and delivery of community engagement strategies in support of various projects in public policy, environmental assessment and land development. The successful candidate can expect to be challenged in a variety of tasks undertaken in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leading and developing our stakeholder engagement and communication strategies;
  • Overseeing and facilitating stakeholder meetings and public events;
  • Preparing municipal planning documents such as official plans, zoning by-laws, and secondary plans;
  • Managing complex municipal planning and development projects;
  • Obtaining planning and development approvals;
  • Preparing planning policy and zoning reviews for municipal and development clients;
  • Research and presentation of planning analyzes; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • University degree or college diploma;
  • Experience in community engagement initiatives, ideally with an engineering or professional services firm;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, query, analyze, and effectively communicate information;
  • Highly motivated, organized, flexible, enthusiastic team player committed to upholding our reputation for delivering high quality service;
  • Excellent written and oral communication and time management skills; and
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License.
