Your Challenge

We are seeking a communication coordinator to join our Corporate Communication team. This position can be based either in Brampton, Markham, Ontario or Calgary and works with a team across North America. The communication coordinator reports directly to the Vice president, Corporate Communications.

This position plays an important role in pursuing, developing and disseminating messages and stories for a variety of internal and external audiences that align with EXP’s business, marketing and communications strategies. This position’s primary role is to support the development of content within Canada (all provinces except Quebec) and supports EXP’s global and strategic initiatives. To execute this mission, we are looking for a coordinator who can develop dynamic content for the company’s website, intranet sites, social media platforms, publications and assist in the development and implementation of strategic communication plans.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of content for internal and external messages to align with EXP’s core values, communications and marketing strategies. Communications Coordinator is responsible for creating and managing content specific to all English Canada sectors.
  • Work closely with the communications and marketing teams to create and/or edit copy written by others to support English Canada markets. Revise according to AP standards, rewrite if necessary for clarity, comprehension, use of language, consistency and effectiveness.
  • Reach out and work closely with all Sector Leaders within the English Canada region to seek information about EXP’s projects and expertise for EXP’s internal and external channels and pitch ideas to Vice president, Corporate Communications and communications colleagues.
  • Responsible for coordinating with communications coordinators and specialists on the corporate communications team to support content delivery for global initiatives (articles, website content and social media).
  • Participate in editorial meetings, suggest topics and stories and help maintain the editorial calendar in collaboration with regional marketing teams and communications specialists in designated regions.
  • Daily management of social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Coordinate content about EXP’s multidisciplinary services and experts. Works closely with EXP’s Digital & Multimedia Designer to support the development of engaging multimedia campaigns for internal use and external use, including social media platforms and EXP’s website.
  • Monitors social media trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement across EXP’s channels.
  • Monitor news releases and coordinate the weekly media report to the management team.
  • Make sure all communication materials meet EXP’s brand guidelines and standards.
  • Provide various copywriting and editing support as needed.

The Skills, Knowledge, and Ability We Seek

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in communications, preferably in the AEC industry.
  • Demonstrated mastery of English grammar, including spelling and punctuation.
  • Creative thinking with strong storytelling and writing skills. Displays versatility in styles including journalistic, promotional and executive communication.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and preferred experiences with internal distribution platforms such as Poppulo (Newsweaver).
  • Proficient with social media platforms including LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of email campaigns, and online content management systems including SharePoint 2013 or other intranet platforms.
  • Demonstrate precision and thoroughness at work.
  • Ability to thrive in a deadline-intensive environment.
