Lotus Group is excited to partner with one of the fastest growing E-Commerce companies in Canada. This Edmonton based organization is in search of a Communications Manager for their growing organization. As a communications leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing reputation, championing the public voice to ensure persistent public consciousness while mobilizing external (customer) and internal (employee) advocacy. The Communications Manager leads the Communications team while measuring, coaching and elevating performance. The Communications Manager will guide efforts to continuously improve execution while finding new opportunities to improve performance, and maximize awareness while supporting revenue growth.
Role Responsibilities
- Enhancing the organization’s reputation by leading the ongoing, results-focused communications initiatives to deepen brand and reputation building in support of the company and our products
- Creating effective research-based strategies and translating them into a concrete communications plan, actioning the day-to-day tactics of earned media, social media, offsite reputation management, ESG, and referral marketing by:
- Developing the communications plan, including mix and schedule
- Developing creative briefs and presenting them to internal partner teams
- Managing reputation by proactively and reactively engaging in offsite discussions
- Partnering with the Creative team to produce content in alignment with the objectives and best practices for the channel
- Managing initiatives as projects to ensure team members and suppliers meet key milestones
- Analyzing communications performance, optimizing creative and tactics, and reporting on results
- Innovate and imagine new, leading edge ways to engage stakeholders in telling the company story including new media channels and publications
- Building a team culture that thinks deeply, questions assumptions, tests hypotheses, captures key learnings, and acts on them to relentlessly improve execution
- Setting priorities for the team, working closely with Advertising team and other cross-functional stakeholders, while delivering projects on time, efficiently, and in a manner that meets or exceeds expectations of internal customers
- Working with Brand Managers regarding new product launches and PR opportunities
- Guiding, mentoring, measuring, and managing workflow and performance of Advertising team members to drive continuous improvement and world-class execution
- Creating and maintaining blocking charts, work-back schedules, budget summaries, plan delivery and campaign reports
- Documenting and disseminating best practices to continuously improve
- Working with internal and external vendors to reveal opportunities to improve performance of communications
- Leading the hiring and evaluation process for employees within the team
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or other related field with 5+ years experience developing corporate communications strategies
- Influential, with exceptional collaboration, relationship and consultative skills, including managing a demanding and sophisticated audience of senior leadership
- Mastery of written English, with the ability to write and critique press releases, articles, and write and critique social media copy
- Expert understanding of media landscape for press placements across Canada and the United States, with strong media connections and proven results
- Track record of working with Creative teams to develop assets that deliver proven results
- Ability to illustrate the strategic value of media, content and sponsorship initiatives driven by the communications team
- Strong leadership including: ability to effectively steer a team; leading with passion; focusing on what matters; and driving results measurable external to the business
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Project Management certification or Marketing automation experience considered an asset
- Strong proficiency with financial and statistical modeling
- Bilingual skills (French) considered an asset
- Crisis management skills and the ability to manage complex customer situations to ensure the best customer experience possible
- Proven aptitude of functioning within deadlines, while working both independently and as part of a team
- A leader with a strong network who has generated high value press placements to drive national exposure with great success and great care
- Equipped with a growth mindset, relentlessly seeking and applying new knowledge that delivers better results, faster
- A great team player and expert communicator focused on elevating the standard of execution of peers both within the Communications function, and cross-functionally, to deliver winning products and services to our customers
- Passionate in the delivering excellence, in quality, process and design
- Minimal travel required
Compensation
- A comprehensive compensation plan will accompany the successful candidate. The annual base salary range is 100-120K based on experience and qualifications.
