CBVRCE CUPE Mechanic (Truck & Transport) (2 Positions)

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS: Mechanic (Red Seal/Journeyperson) (Truck & Transport) - 2 Positions

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 8 hours/daily

WORK TERM: Permanent 12-month regular position

RATE OF PAY: $26.66/hr

LOCATION: Operational Services, Sydney Bus Garage

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Red Seal Truck and Transport Mechanic is required (Apprentices working towards Red Seal may be considered)
• Grade 12 education or an acceptable equivalent
• Demonstrated ability to do work as required in the posted position, and the ability to work with others and provide assistance
• WHMIS
• Reliable and conscientious
• Acceptable record of attendance in prior employment
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract

Responsibilities:

• Perform all mechanical duties as assigned in accordance with approved standards, the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and Centre for Education Polices and Procedures;
• Keep accurate record of vehicle inspections and maintenance;
• Complete all assigned work orders, and record hours and materials used;
• Keep work area clean and safe;
• Maintain the safe operation of all equipment used in the bus garage;
• Conduct road tests as required;
• Other related duties as assigned.
