Auxiliary Pool

We are seeking to build an Auxiliary Pool of Bylaw Enforcement Officers to ensure compliance with City parks, highway and parking regulations and other City by-laws during the busy times of the year.

The work involves constant public contact and requires the exercise of tact, discretion and sound judgment, ensuring effectiveness of operations and establishment and maintenance of good public relations.

The successful candidates will have completed 12th grade and the Bylaw Enforcement & Investigative Skills 1 Certificate Program (Justice Institute or equivalent). This education will be supplemented by experience in regulatory enforcement, conflict resolution or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The candidates will be expected to explain and interpret by-laws and regulations to the public, and perform simple record preparation and keeping tasks. They will also be proficient using Microsoft Office, Outlook, GIS and records management systems (Tempest), as well as have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License. As some patrols may be conducted on bicycle, some training in the safe use and operations of bicycles would be an asset.

This position may involve irregular hours up to ten (10) hours per day, Monday to Sunday, within the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Wage: Pay Grade 19 - $30.80/hour (2021 rates) plus 10% in lieu
