Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for developing bottom up assortment plan and strategic portfolio vision to deliver budgeted sales, profit margin, allowances and terms as well as sourcing private label programs
  • Responsible for cross-functional, partnership with planning, forecasting and allocation to deliver inventory flow and metrics for categories
  • Assess trends and effectively build strong omnichannel merchandising programs, rooted in the fundamental merchandising strategy principals including first to market, exclusives, global value items and exit strategies
  • Weekly analysis of KPIs and business results with key course correcting action plans with partners both internally and externally in a timely manner
  • Create compelling advertising to drive traffic footfall, omnichannel sales and market share while providing flawless execution to the customer first through accurate proofing at all subsequent stages of digital and print media submission process
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Store Planning departments to develop and execute external vendor programs for best in class in-store events and brand building merchandise programs
  • Enhance “endless aisle” by broadening the assortment selection online through drop ship to enhance the guest experience.
  • Develop and formally present strategic category vision and assortment plans to the Leadership Team and key partners seasonally
  • Develop and maintain best in class partner relationships rooted in the merchandising strategy principals focused on KPIs and use of strong negotiating skills
  • Know the market – relentlessly review opportunities for improvement in presentation, assortment, pricing and in-store execution through regular market visits
  • Attend trade shows to identify new products, research product development and/or design of products as required

Qualifications:

  • Must have 5+ years and proven track record of retail buying experience in a specialty or mass merchandising environment
  • Previous apparel and sourcing experience, having developed and executed a private label program
  • Post-secondary education with a focus on retail, business, eCommerce or marketing
  • Influential and collaborative communicator with strong relationship building skills with an ability to influence others without direct authority
  • Customer-centric team leader with a positive attitude who “plays to win”
  • Keeps pulse on customer, trends and product innovation
  • Proficient in using MS Office and computerized inventory system
  • Must possess ability to develop, train and lead your category buying team
