Founded in 1996, DriverCheck is a leading occupational health company with over 700 staff, over 6,400 employers, and services across Canada. We conduct approximately 300,000 medical tests in a normal year, offering alcohol and drug testing, occupational health services, fatigue management, and injury management programs. The DriverCheck Agile (DCA) division was set up in January to scale our COVID field testing services to our clients. We have successfully accomplished this goal by growing from 25 to over 350 staff over the last three months. Our clients include major utilities, oil companies, retailers, automakers, food processors, and the government. Fueled by DCA, we are on-pace for more than 600,000 medical tests in 2021.

We foresee a strong market for COVID testing over the next year with the continued emergence of variants, significant remaining unvaccinated population, and new markets opening up as public health restrictions ease. We have developed a strategy that will position DCA for continued growth in the next phase of the pandemic, centred around At-Home COVID Testing. We also see a tremendous opportunity to leverage our technology platform and client relationships to pivot for long-term success.

To execute on this strategy, we need strong business development consultants who will pursue new markets and partnerships for our At-Home COVID Testing service in the short term, with other service offerings in the future.

Our Marketing Department will oversee the marketing efforts of DCA and our Core business;

  • Our Program Consulting (Sales) Department will also be selling the At-Home COVID Testing service, with a focus on our existing clients and traditional target markets;
  • Our Client Support Group on-boards and maintains enterprise clients with our Account Managers and Account Specialists;

Strategic Functions*
The Business Development Consultant (“BDC”) will be expected to:

Research new markets and possible partnerships for the At-Home COVID Testing service

  • Develop a strategic business development plan;
  • Determine the key revenue generating opportunities within those markets, which may include direct sales, working with associations or unions, or developing strategic partnerships;
  • Build a value proposition for each new market and for specific clients in those markets;
  • Build pitch decks;
  • Develop relationships that help you with the execution of the strategy.

Operational Function*

  • The BDC will be expected to work with other BDC’s, our Marketing and Program Consulting Departments, and our Client Support Group to ensure:
  • marketing message and value propositions are consistent;
  • that there is no overlap between sales efforts;
  • smooth transition to operations for clients signed up; and
  • collaborate and share knowledge/best practices with others.
  • Though not a requirement, the ability to build out sales processes is an asset;
  • Conduct sales calls and meetings with and make presentations to prospective clients;
  • Carry out follow up calls with prospective clients;
  • Carry out required travel and face to face meetings to achieve results.
  • Meet sales targets and other KPIs as developed by the Employer;
  • Generate leads (e.g. by cold calls, internet searches, relationships, networking);
  • Lead and/or support request for proposal responses;
  • Understand client culture and client needs;
  • Present prospects and sales updates/reports to the DCA leadership team, as requested;
  • Document interaction with clients and prospective clients in central database;
  • Contribute to creation of marketing and advertising materials.

  • Relationships are critical in any business but especially in the healthcare space, which is a high trust market. The BDC is expected to:
  • Have strong relationship building skills;
  • Build trust through having the client’s best interests at heart;
  • Have a strong educational focus for the client;
  • Have service excellence as a core value;

  • Demonstrate commitment to health and safety;
  • Establish safe work procedures and practices;
  • Instruct workers in safe procedures and practices;
  • Ensure incidents are reported and investigated, and that corrective actions are taken;
  • Ensure services are compliant with all applicable regulations and health & safety standards;

What you need to be successful in the role: *

  • At least five years relevant previous experience;
  • A proven track record of providing actionable solutions;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Critical thinker and problem solver;
  • MBA an asset.
