Location: Stratford with high flexibility to work from home 1-2 days per week

Are you a Business Analyst who enjoys working on multiple projects to deliver on strategic business needs whilst gaining exposure to multiple stakeholders and products?

It’s an exciting time to join the Technology team at Cancer Research UK (CRUK), our teams are now aligned to product portfolios ensuring we can deliver the best digital products and solutions to enable our pioneering work on how to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer.

As a Business Analyst, you will be assigned one of our product portfolios where you’ll partner cross-functionally on various projects to analyse, capture, and validate user requirements to successfully shape and deliver technical solutions that meet the product needs and strategic direction of the charity. As a key member of our project teams, you’ll ensure the successful delivery of large Technology and Change projects across CRUK by providing analytical expertise and technical/ business suitability assessments. You will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to our toolkits, ways of working, and the formation of a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the analysis on multiple projects to help identify and assess solutions that meet business outcomes and provide the best cost/benefit balance.
  • Scope and shape analytical approaches to problem-solving.
  • Forge strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to identify and assess opportunities to meet business outcomes.
  • Analyse and map core business processes and systems, identifying pain points, and leading on process improvements
  • Collate, understand, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements ensuring stakeholders have a shared understanding.
  • Translate business requirements into Agile epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Size and prioritize product features to maximize value for CRUK.
  • Work collaboratively with Solution Architects, Developers, Testers, and UX Designers.
  • Input into the design of test scenarios, scripts, and execution by working with customers and Quality Assurance to ensure changes are appropriately tested and accepted.
  • Define KPIs/ SLAs with the business to monitor the effectiveness of processes and enable greater efficiency.
  • Assist in the development of investment appraisals providing decision support to ensure solutions deliver maximum value to the charity.
  • Assist in the identification, baselining, and tracking of project benefits to ensure value is achieved.
  • Support the business analyst community by sharing expertise, best practices, and contributing to analysis toolkits.
  • Maintain an understanding of the capabilities, processes, and services which make up the CRUK technology landscape alongside an awareness of current and emerging software to ensure that compatible solutions are designed, and existing capabilities are re-used where suitable.
  • Lead teams of Business Analysts where appropriate.
  • Buddy and mentor colleagues across the business analyst community providing and creating material, guidelines, and user guides.

What we’re looking for:

Essential:

  • Significant business analysis experience, including designing, and facilitating workshops.
  • Strong understanding and experience of business analysis skills, techniques, and practices.
  • Proven ability to influence decision-making at all levels within a variety of contexts.
  • Advanced experience in process and data modelling, and process improvement.
  • Understanding of what CRUK is trying to achieve and the impact that the Delivery team makes in contributing to those objectives.
  • Worked in medium to large multi-product business with a large IT function or within a large agency/consultancy.

Desirable:

  • Experience using Agile approaches, tools, and facilitation
  • Clear understanding of waterfall methodology and the main benefits
  • Financial or payment-related experience (desirable but not essential)
  • Knowledge and ability to use a variety of elicitation techniques (e.g. interviews, questionnaires, user observation, workshops, and prototyping).
  • Evidence in problem-solving with an ability to simplify complex problems into component parts and evaluate systematically to provide creative solutions.
  • Has broad current knowledge of technology standards, applications, and trends.
