The Client:

Our client is a global real estate company. They have a large portfolio of office and industrial properties within the lower mainland, which cater for a diverse tenant mix. They are looking for a Building Operator to provide first class customer service to their tenants. This is a well established firm who were voted as one of Canadas best employers. This will be an opportunity to learn and develop as a building operator under a strong mentorship structure. This is a team which have a proven track record of promoting from within.

The Position:

The candidate will report directly to a Senior Property Manager and will have daily interaction with a variety of tenants within the buildings. The primary responsibilities of this role will be to complete a variety of minor building maintenance tasks. For this position my client are open to somebody without their 4th / 5th class, although a ticket would be preferable . Their responsibilities include:

• Installing, repairing, and maintaining climate control and other mechanical systems within a building Overseeing preventative maintenance and unscheduled repairs of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, electrical, landscaping, roofing, and life safety systems;
• General maintenance including, housekeeping such as sweeping, litter pick up, shovelling and pressure washing;
• Assisting with environmental assessments and reporting;
• Participating in national occupational health and safety program;
• Assisting with waste, recycling, and hazardous materials issues;
• Monitoring of computerized control systems; Responding to tenant service requests;
• Assisting with insurance and risk management inspections, remedial actions and reporting;
• Remaining current and up to date with new industry practices, legislative changes and new technologies;
• Prepared to be on call and work over-time;
• Other assigned duties.

The Requirements:

• General Maintenance skills - plumbing, electrical and painting
• 2+ years experience working in commercial building operations
• 4th/5th class power engineer (asset)
• Strong communication skills and high focus on customer service

Salary: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
