Supervisor, Content Strategist
Management Band 1

This is a temporary opportunity until July 6, 2022, which may be extended and/or become permanent.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
This position is excluded from union membership.

This position can be performed virtually in any BC Public Service office (subject to operational requirements and space availability), locations may include but are not limited to: Nanaimo, Victoria, Vancouver, Kamloops, Nelson, Prince George.
Although this position has onsite office based requirements, it can temporarily be performed virtually due to the current extraordinary circumstances related to COVID-19. This will remain in place until physical distancing advisories are lifted.

On November 1, 2021 the BC Public Service announced the COVID-19 Vaccination Policy that defines the conditions and expectations for BC Public Service employees regarding vaccination against COVID-19. Among other possible measures, proof of vaccination will be required. Combine your client service, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning skills in this challenging role

The Operational Strategies and Integration Services (OSIS) is a branch is within the Public Service Agency responsible for providing corporate service support to the operational branches of the HR Services and Solutions (HRSS) division as well as support and collaboration with other lines of business within the PSA. OSIS will lead expansion of equity, diversity and inclusion into HRSS operations and projects. This approach will promote efficient, streamlined processes across the organization to ensure deliverables are prioritized and aligned with corporate commitments. The approach will contribute to an increase in consistent and timely service delivery rooted in service excellence.

The Web Content Strategist provides leadership to enhance service delivery on the web through the creation, delivery and governance of accessible and clear content. This position oversees a team of writers that focuses on plain language and accessible content focused on HR information and services for BC Public Service employees. The team works closely with the Information Architecture group to design content, ensuring best practice design principles are used, which include research, persona work, accessible content and user testing sessions.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet theeducation and experienceas outlined below:

  • Degree in English, Communications, Library Science, User Experience Design, Computer Science or a related field plus one (1) year of related experience; OR

  • Diploma in English, Communications, Library Science, User Experience Design, Computer Science or a related field plus three (3) years of related experience; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.



Related experience must include:

  • Experience with content strategy work.

  • Experience with writing and editing.

  • Experience practicing user experience design and content development.

  • Experience with web properties and information architecture.

  • Experience supervising staff.

  • Experience communicating complex issues clearly and adapt writing style for audience.

  • Experience preparing and delivering effective presentations.



Preference may be given to applicants with 1 or more of the following:

  • Experience using Customer Relationship Management system (CRM).

  • Experience with CMS Lite or other technical platforms.

  • Experience in accessibility best practices and plain language training.

  • Experience with analytics gathering and reporting.

  • Experience with service design.
