• Aston Carter’s publicly traded distribution company with its HQ based out of Langley BC. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the monthly and quarter-end financial close. Working closely with the rest of the Corporate Finance & Accounting team, the Assistant Controller will be a source of financial expertise by assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports while ensuring internal controls are followed.* The role will be best suited for someone who has prepared a complete set of financial statements for multiple entities / locations.
  
  

Audit or Public Accounting background is a nice have but not mandatory.

High level Breakdown of the role will be

• Management of monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables
• Coordination with finance groups and auditors on financial reporting, budgeting and audits
• Overview of Canadian and US sales tax filing
• Support office admin on corporate AP functions including review and approval of vendor set up
• Review and management of bank reconciliations
• Review and support the preparation of Audit working papers
• Management of Accountants, Accounting Clerks, and Office Admin
• Skills & Qualifications:*
• CPA designation or equivalent
• 5+ Years as Manager, including experience with complex reporting (multiple entities and currencies) and using excel for reporting
• Experience with Consolidations and Financial Reporting
• Experience with managing and leading teams
• Working within one of the following environments; Mid-Large Organization, multiple systems or Public Practice
• Excellent written and verbal Communication
• Advanced Excel; large sums of data, v-look ups, sum ifs, pivots (ideally macros and higher) Nice:
• Publicly traded company experience
• Exposure to IFRS and specifically IFRS 16
• Internal Controls experience
• Working with non-financial stakeholders on financial requests
