Position Summary:
The Architectural Designerreports to the Manager of Campus Planning and Design and provides leadership in the design of all projects undertaken by the Planning/Design/Construction (PDC) unit of Facilities Management (FM). The incumbent leads the delivery of timely, cost effective design solutions as well as project coordination services on selected projects under the direction of a Facilities Management Project Manager. The incumbent leads the development of, and compliance with, design standards in areas including building code, fire code, accessibility, occupational health and safety, sustainability, and security.
The incumbent will carry out these responsibilities with the assistance of the Document & Data Services Group, Project Managers, Architectural and Engineering consultants, contract Interior Designers and other specialized consultants as required.
Responsibility will also include inspection and reporting for Facility Condition Assessments, and tracking of general condition and maintenance/upgrade requirements related to building envelope, roofing repairs, and asbestos removal. The incumbent must be able to work independently within university guidelines and policies while leading an interdisciplinary team of professionals. This includes determining priorities and meeting expected goals while exercising discretionary decision making, and setting and shifting priorities as needed in a fast paced, multi-disciplined environment.
Other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
- 3 year Diploma in Architectural Technologies (Building Sciences and Interior Design) OR a Bachelor of Interior Design degree;
- 6 years of progressive related experience working in a professional design office or a Facilities Management environment;
- Membership in the Saskatchewan Applied Sciences Technicians and Technologists (SASTT) OR;
- Membership in the professional Interior Designers Association of Saskatchewan (IDAS);
- Eligibility for accreditation granted by NCIDQ (National Certification in the Interior Designers Qualification) is desirable; and,
- Attention to detail is essential.
