Job Description:

• Assist the investment deal team in M&A, divestitures, financing and strategy development
• Participate in initial discussions with acquisition targets to gather financial, operational and qualitative information to arrive at a preliminary valuation
• Conduct in-depth financial due diligence on acquisition targets and build financial models to assist in investment evaluation and financing
• Participate in transaction structuring and negotiations
• Conduct industry due diligence including deep-dive analysis on portfolio company’s largest publicly listed competitors
• Work closely with senior investment professionals and management of portfolio companies
• Develop relationships with management teams as part of monitoring portfolio companies and perform financial forecasting, reporting, and KPI tracking
• Perform financial reporting and analysis on past results including variance analysis, trend analysis and present recommendations for optimization of the portfolio company’s’ performance in the monthly board meetings
• Perform post acquisition financial analysis on recent acquisitions by comparing actual results with the preliminary underwriting
• Identify and drive process improvements including the creation of reports, tools, and Excel dashboards
• Write internal investment reports and recommendations

• Passion for private equity, investing in middle market companies and ability to understand the operations of businesses to reflect them in valuation models
• Intellectual curiosity
• Strong work ethic with ability to work under limited supervision
• Ability to confidently and respectfully present and defend investment ideas in front of an investment committee
• Sound judgement with excellent written and oral communication skills

Hard Skills:

• Have a track record of academic achievement and professional advancement
• Ability to source, research and synthesize industry data, metrics and reports
• 1-3 years of related work experience (private equity, investment banking, consulting etc.) preferred
• Strong fundamentals: Excellent research, financial modeling, analytical and valuation skills, including experience in building DCF models
• CFA or CBV designation or progress towards completion
• Business, Economics or Engineering degree preferred but not required
• Desire to live in Burlington or willingness to travel to the office
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel - financial modelling and VBA
