Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate joining our Kelowna office will support the finance team in addressing insurance carrier discrepancies and reconciliations. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for working with insurance carriers and internal servicing teams to review and correct discrepancies.


  • Obtain the reconciliation reports from carriers.
  • Compare the carrier report discrepancies to invoicing and insurance documents in our internal system.
  • Resolve discrepancies through review of invoicing, documentation, and discussion with insurance carriers and internal teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for resolving discrepancies.
  • Identify error patterns and possible solutions for discussion with management.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in personal or commercial insurance servicing or reconciliations/premium billing
  • Candidate with some accounting experience, preferably in the insurance industry
  • Computer Skills
    • Proficient with MS Excel – advanced data analysis skills an advantage
    • Ability to learn new systems quickly – we operate on industry specific software (Applied EPIC)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Investigative and analytical – have an investigative nature around data (statements and policy documents) to resolve internal or external invoicing errors.
  • Excellent communication skills – be able to communicate with the finance team members, internal clients, and insurance carriers in a respectful and friendly manner at all times.
  • Attention to detail – we operate in a very fast paced environment with a high volume of transactions, attention to detail/accuracy while maintaining a productive processing speed is critical.
  • Team player – we have a strong, respectful, and positive team that works well together to process and perform in our high-volume environment.
  • Should be able to reconcile given two sets of information.
  • Capable of explaining insurance and invoicing system concepts clearly and credibly.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Must demonstrate a sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Confident, proactive, self-motivated, enthusiastic, quick thinking, goal and results oriented.
