As Accountant at Strauss event & association management, you coordinate with the President, and Accounting Manager on directives that affect the direction, decision making and profitability of Strauss. In your role you will manage accounting operations and systems for Strauss and our client by implementing new central billing software. You will also provide financial reports that assist management and client boards in making important business decisions.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Prepare monthly financial reports; respond to inquiries regarding financial statements;
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial statements and other schedules as requested by clients;
  • Manage client relationships; be a proactive liaison with the client’s auditor, external accountant, or banker;
  • Maintain accounting record-keeping system, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets which will mitigate risk and enhance financial report results;
  • Assist in annual budget preparation and interim forecast development;
  • Manage client payables/receivables;
  • Establish and maintain a chart of accounts; define bookkeeping policies and procedures for clients;
  • Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries;
  • Manage preparation of client invoices, review accounts receivable to identify collection issues;
  • Manage recording of cash receipts and preparation of bank deposits;
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts to ensure their accuracy;
  • Make necessary month end and year end closing entries; and
  • Manage implementation and operations of a central billing invoicing system

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • CPA designation preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience, ideally within a public practice;
  • Working knowledge of accounting software; experience with QuickBooks is an asset;
  • Experience in full cycle bookkeeping;
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently, and process large amounts of data;
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality with client matters;
  • Excellent organizational skills, coupled with the ability to effectively plan and prioritize;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; and
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills.
