Kitchen Coordinator (Full Time, Contract)

Salary Range: $37,611.00/yr - $41,790.00/yr
Dates: Variable start dates until October 2022, with possibility of contract extension

What qualifications are we looking for?

At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following;
  • Previous experience in leading banquet and large volume kitchens or line cooking;
  • Experience leading a team;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • A positive attitude and positive teamwork experience;
  • A love for the outdoors and living in the Rocky Mountains;
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months);
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search;
  • Three professional references required.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

Reporting to the Executive Chef (manager), the Kitchen Coordinators are responsible for:
  • Ensuring consistent high quality of meals and food service systems;
  • Coaching and supporting kitchen staff;
  • Ordering food and supplies;
  • Implementing systems that ensure lowest possible likelihood of covid-19 transmission;
  • Liaison with parents and group leaders around dietary restrictions;
  • Menu planning with Executive Chef that focuses on decreasing waste and creatively utilizing leftovers;
  • Supervision of 2-10 staff, depending on the season and operational volume.
