Your Opportunity

An immediate opening exists in our Markham Transportation group for Junior Transportation Drafter/Design Technologist. The candidate will provide drawing and design assistance on large-scale transportation projects. Working with Senior and Intermediate staff, the individual will be responsible for maintaining drawings and project documents for multi-disciplinary Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build and P3 projects and pursuits.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Drafting and design of roadways, grading, and public utilities in accordance with the applicable federal, provincial, and municipal standards and best practices
• Development and production of engineering drawings for large-scale Transportation projects (plan/profile, cross-section, details, etc.)
• Quality control checking of designs and drawing packages prior to submission
• Work collaboratively with senior Technologists, Engineers, and multi-disciplinary design teams
• Preparation of design calculations, design briefs, presentations, and reports
• Calculation of quantities and preparation of cost estimates
• Comply with Stantec Quality Management, Safety, and Environmental policies

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Experience with producing engineering drawings and designs
• Familiarity with OPSS/OPSD, TAC, OTM, AODA and Transport Canada standards is considered an asset
• Ability to complete conceptual plans, preliminary & detailed designs
• Preferred Software experience - AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microstation is an asset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments

Education and Experience

Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferably 1 to 3 years’ experience in Transportation engineering

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
