Reporting to the Senior team, the Junior Mechanical Estimator/Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the estimation process and project coordination for mechanical construction projects.

This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Estimating

· Conduct quantity takeoffs, analyze project plans and specifications, and solicit subcontractor and supplier quotes

· Create and submit Requests for Information (RFI), clarify project details, and ensure accuracy in the estimation process

· Prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical construction projects, considering project plans, specifications, and relevant information

· Review subcontractor and supplier quotations for completeness and coordination between scopes

· Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to know who to send quotes to, what type of projects the subcontractor is most interested in, what suppliers carry what product lines

Project Coordination

· Prepare, review, analyze and maintain project documentation, including project files, shop drawings, change orders, and progress reports to verify compliance with project requirements and specifications

· Collaborate and assist the project team to develop and monitor project schedules, track project milestones, tracking costs, and identifying potential risks or issues that may impact project timelines or budget

· Create and process purchase orders for necessary materials and equipment

· Obtain permits and licenses required for project execution

· Gather necessary documentation for project close-out, including operations and maintenance manuals

· Schedule and coordinate material and equipment deliveries to site

· Track status of change order pricing and approvals

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project documentation, correspondence, and communication

Required Skills/Experience:

· Post-Secondary education preferably in Mechanical Engineering and/or estimating

· Min of 2 years’ experience within a general contracting environment

· Knowledgeable with mechanical, civil, and structural drawings

· Good knowledge of the BC Building Code, Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) and Canadian Construction Association Standards

· Proven competency in the operation of key office software and productivity tools such as: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project)

· Design-Build experience is an asset

· Knowledge of B2W Estimating Software is an asset

· Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal

· Excellent communication and organizational skills

· Positive attitude and a desire for continuous improvement for self and organization

· Must be accurate with a high attention to details

· Ability to work independently and cohesively

· Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation (some travel to sites may be required and our Maple Ridge office is not accessible via public transit)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
