Job Description Summary

The Ultra Engineering function manages a portfolio of specialist capabilities, generating highly differentiated solutions and products by applying electronic, mechanical, and software technologies in demanding and critical environments to meet customer needs.

The Junior Electrical Engineer will work as part of a Through Life Support (TLS) team along with a Senior Electronics Technician. The TLS team’s core responsibilities will be all manner of activities related to in-field product support.

Job Description

  • The Electrical and Electronic engineering function in Ultra supports the hardware development lifecycle consisting of requirements analysis, design, implementation, test and verification in order to deliver electronic or electrical components and subassemblies into projects and products.

The role holder will be either

  • a) an entry level professional with limited work experience but with applicable education, learning skills to perform routine tasks as prescribed and with little autonomy. Works under clearly defined procedures and with close supervision. Expected to progress through a junior career path; or
  • b) a technical or skilled individual providing support to others and contributing through application of technical expertise and knowledge gained through experience in clearly defined operations environments and formalised job-related training.

Additional Job Description

  • Service support and field repair support for customer field-deployed equipment.
  • Processing of generated service tickets.
  • Product improvement, analysis and recommendations.
  • Development support of the next generation products.
  • Support and tracking of change requests and change orders using Ultra’s Change Management (CM) process.
  • Performance of any required validation / verification activities required to verify changes made to product or hardware as part of product improvement.
  • Review of cost saving opportunities for field hardware and propose alternate solutions to reduce costs.
  • Monitoring of the configuration management of, drawings and documentation for hardware, firmware, and software as needed to enable support activities including product improvements.
  • Receipt of training for, and access to, the enterprise resource planning systems that enable work within and part of the Ultra team.
  • Development, and maintenance of technical and user documentation including field technical support manuals and user manuals.
  • Development of a through life support plan for the system including maintenance plan development, support equipment recommendation, illustrated parts breakdown, recommended spare parts lists.
  • Failure analysis of field failures.
  • Collection and analysis of field failure and reliability data.
  • Control and responsibility for field firmware and software upgrades.
