ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) has summer employment opportunities for Junior Day Camp Leaders. We are looking for enthusiastic camp leaders to assist in the delivery of quality, summer recreation programs in the City of Parksville, the Town of Qualicum Beach, and Electoral Area E (Nanoose Bay).

Junior Leaders assist Senior Summer and Inclusion Leaders at day camp programs. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety of participants; leading daily program activities including age- appropriate games, sports, arts, and crafts; assisting with the inclusion of all participants; interacting with parents and community members; maintaining program supplies, equipment, and facilities; and other related duties as required. Junior Leaders will work variable hours at a 2022 rate of pay of $15.80 per hour from July 4– September 2.

QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a general knowledge of recreation programs, summer day camps, and guiding children’s behaviour are essential. Leaders must possess and maintain a current first aid (Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid or Emergency Childcare First Aid) and CPR B or C.

Other applicable certifications such as, High Five, NCCP, Canucks Autism Network, Physical Literacy 101, National Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, and training in nature interpretation and education, and outdoor skill development are considered assets
