The Jackson lab is focused on the use of multiplexed imaging and single cell analyses to understand the formation and function of multi-cellular tissue subunits, communities of cells. Using imaging mass cytometry combined with multiple other technologies we track and investigate changing cellular interactions within pre-clinical models of disease and clinical patient samples. We are looking for a collaborative and detail oriented Technician to support varied cancer research and methods development projects in the lab while helping to coordinate the management of the lab.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Technician / Lab Coordinator will be responsible for contributing to our imaging mass cytometry experimental pipeline as well as support of day-to-day lab operations and contribute to diverse research projects.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acquire bright field, fluorescence and high dimension images using microscopy and CyTOF Suspension and Imaging Systems
  • Help manage tissue sample, antibody, cell line and plasmid inventories
  • Assist with mouse genotyping, breeding program, and surgical procedures
  • Dissect, fix, section, and process tissue
  • Maintain animal user protocols
  • Assist with tissue sample, antibody, cell line, and plasmid inventory management
  • Establish SOP for diverse experimental protocols
  • Administer lab safety programs to ensure compliance
  • Onboard and train new lab members
  • Help with ordering of lab supplies
  • Coordinate usage and maintenance of shared lab equipment and reagents
  • Organize shared lab duties for the efficient operation of the lab
  • Collaborate with other lab members to execute experimental work

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum BSc in biological sciences. Additional work experience preferred
  • Experience in the following techniques is an asset:
    • Molecular biology (cloning, PCR, conjugation biochemistry)
    • Immunohistochemistry and tissue processing (fixation, antigen retrieval, immunostaining, imaging)
    • Microscopy
    • Flow cytometry or other single cell and antibody based measurements
    • Mammalian cell culture (transfections, lentiviral infection, tissue culture)
    • Animal husbandry
    • Statistics and data analysis using scripts and code
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and recordkeeping skills
  • Ability and eagerness to learn new techniques
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
