We embody our values in everything that we do. We Serve with Passion, Think Forward, and Play as a Team. If you can relate, we want to hear from you!

Our Procurement Services Office is currently seeking a Technical Template Writer to join the team. Reporting to the Manager, Templates, the Technical Template Writer reviews, organizes, edits, streamlines and ultimately produces a menu of “plug and play” templated documents, with content owned by different organizations across the enterprise, that will knit together into high quality contracts that are easy for bidders to interpret and contain no inconsistencies or internal contradictions that could result in claims against Metrolinx.

What will I be doing?

  • Responsible for the end-to-end review of all contract templates, with a view to standardizing language and ensuring there are no inconsistencies or internal contradictions across different template types that will be combined to form one complete contract
  • Conducts research internally to understand the Metrolinx template landscape – total scope of available templates, templates categories, frequency of use, new templates in the pipeline, template storage locations, ownership
  • Works with the Templates Manager and Template Specialists to define the criteria for the review and rewrite process, i.e. where to focus first, desirable length and format of documents, storage location/format, etc.
  • Summarizes, prioritizes, and presents recommended template language and format changes to management for approval
  • Maintains a log of requested changes to be addressed in priority, as defined by senior level stakeholders, during the template revision exercise
  • Facilitates dialogue and discussion between the business and stakeholders (internal and external), assists with prioritization between competing objectives (i.e. run meetings, focus groups, joint sessions, and workshops)
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of the business processes, assets, facilities, responsibilities, regulatory requirements, and interdependencies within Metrolinx
  • Prepares reports and presentations outlining the problem description, development and evaluation of alternatives, recommendations, and implementation actions
What skills and qualifications do I need?
  • Completion of a degree in English, business, commerce, supply chain management, public policy, law or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years in procurement and sourcing, and minimum 4 years’ experience in technical and contract writing with demonstrated examples
  • Interpersonal, oral/written/presentation communications skills to document and present business needs, specifications, reports, project documents, and implementation plans
  • Proficiency in MS Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience in research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Human Resources legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, etc.)
  • Problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills
