Key responsibilities include of this position include assisting in the child abuse/neglect investigations, assisting in guardianship responsibilities for children/youth in care or children/youth in adoption residency, supporting youth agreements and service providers in independent living plan, implementing planned moves for youth, maintaining contact with children/youth in care, foster parents and families.   • Secondary school graduation or equivalent PLUS at least one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care or a Human Services field*; OR
      • NOTE:If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
    • One year of experience working with children and youth in a directly related field** PLUS two years of post-secondary studies towards a degree, or a diploma or certificate in a Human Services field*; OR
    • At least two years experience working with children and youth in a directly related field**
  • Human Services field includes social work, psychology, sociology, criminology, anthropology, early childhood education, indigenous studies, education, theology, and nursing.
  • Related field includes experience in one or more of the following:
  • Working directly with children and youth in any of the following settings: residential care, childcare, youth care, education settings (e.g., education assistant); OR
  • Providing administrative support to:
    • Child Protection, Child and Youth with Support Needs, Child and Youth Mental Health, Youth Justice, Guardianship, Adoptions, Resources, or related Service Delivery program; OR
    • Delegated Aboriginal Agency (DAA) setting; OR
    • Family services agency or contracted agency providing assessment, counselling and family support services to children youth and families.
Additional Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).
Preference May Be Given To Applicants With The Following
  • Three or more years of experience working with children and youth in a directly related field.
  • Experience working in the Community Social Services sector.
  • Experience using the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) Integrated Case Management (ICM) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer systems.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
