DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director, Marketing and Student Recruitment, the Student Recruitment Officer implements the institution’s recruitment and enrolment plan as defined by Durham College’s SEM framework for the domestic student population.

The role of the Student Recruitment Officer is to develop and conduct a comprehensive recruiting program to meet college enrolment targets. This would include scheduling visits with assigned priority schools, liaising with stakeholders and community agencies; maintaining and presenting up-to-date knowledge of the full-time programs and services of the college.

The incumbent collaborates with the recruitment team to develop and customize content for presentations, brochures, webinars and the CRM to effectively promote the college and its full-time programs and services.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Marketing and Client Support:

  • Conduct a direct and non-direct recruitment program related to the full range of college programs. Provides expert product knowledge and maintains ongoing contact with secondary schools province-wide.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with assigned ‘priority schools’.
  • Organize and participate in system-wide recruiting activities such as CIP (College Information Program), high school visits, and visits to community partners, including making all travel arrangements during this time for rental vehicles, insurance, and accommodations.
  • Maintains knowledge of full-time programs by liaising with Deans, Program Coordinators, Administrative Coordinators, Student Liaisons and faculty and attend program and advisory meetings as required.
  • Meets with prospective students for one-on-one appointments to provide information and guidance on program choice and how to apply to a full-time college program.
  • Develop and conduct community presentations, for recruitment purposes, as requested by secondary schools and special interest groups. Liaising with stakeholders by providing promotional materials and information to high schools and agencies.
  • Provide program, admission and general college information to a diverse range of potential students including those from high schools, adult learners, and referrals from community agencies.
  • Coordinate and conduct events such as campus tours, high school visits, and applicant open houses, for potential students, applicants, parent and guidance counselors; guidance counselor workshops and other recruitment initiatives in consultation with college staff.
  • Work with other college staff in the development of recruitment and promotional materials such as calendars, admissions publications, OCAS material, brochures, flyers, posters, and other items as required.
  • Represent the college or region/province on various committees/functions to establish working relationships (i.e. Ontario School Counselors Association, College Registration, and Admissions & Liaison Officers, Eastern Region).

Administration:

  • Input lead data into computer system (Salesforce) communicate with lead in timely and regular fashion. This includes general follow up, reminders, event invites, and answering any questions as required.
  • Input and analyze tracking data from events.
  • Uses social media to connect with potential applicants and other stakeholders.
  • Respond to correspondence: live chat, letter, email, and telephone calls in a timely and professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three-year diploma or degree in business administration, marketing, public relations, human resources, advertising or employment counselling.
  • A G driver’s license is required.
  • Minimum of three years of recent and relevant work experience including public speaking.
  • Excellent oral and public speaking skills, superior writing ability and creative skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
