APS Precast is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Structural Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This is a full-time position for an energetic person. The right candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated; a person with the passion to come to work each day and make a contribution.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (P. Eng. / P.E.) registered in BC and an asset if also in the State of Washington
• Minimum 5 years of Structural Engineering experience
• Familiarity with design of steel and reinforced/pre-stressed concrete structures, elements and connections
• Ability to lead the team to ensure that our drawings are produced with sufficient production lead times to meet our client’s schedules and deadlines
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proactive, innovative, detail oriented and results oriented.
  

Key Responsibilities And Duties

• Ensures the teams workflow constitutes drawings submittals to our clients and production lead times as a priority in the design process
• Performs analysis and design of structures using applicable building and design codes/standards (US and Canadian)
• Performs structural analysis and design calculations
• Provides design sketches and supervises, coordinates and reviews the work of drafting technicians
• Checks design documents, specifications and working drawings
• Reviews shop drawings and develops design solutions and modifications
• Mentor and assist drafting staff by checking and providing feedback
• Oversees the production of quality shop drawings
• Attends pre-construction and/or site meetings to address client concerns
• Conducts field reviews and carries site inspection as required
• Troubleshoots issues on job sites
• Liaises with external consultants and drafting contractors for assigned projects
• Contribute to the development of departmental teamwork and efforts to improve efficiency
