About the Role
We have an opening for a Senior Back End Software Developer to become part of our growing R&D department. As part of our engineering team, you will leverage advanced and start-of-the-art technologies to develop a new generation of tools and products that help internal departments as well as content creators. You will assist with mentoring other team members and provide guidance on best practices within the department.

Key Responsibilities*

• Work collaboratively on design and implementation of BBTV’s Internal products and Big Data systems; manage the current and historical data for millions of videos, channels & other entities
• Develop solutions using Python, Node and other modern development languages and frameworks

• Work with the IT team to develop a data security and retention framework
• Actively look for solutions to improve our workflow, technology and products
• Continually expand your knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices
• Assist with mentoring other team members on best practices

A strong candidate will have

• Minimum 5 years experience building professional backend applications, including demonstrated expertise in planning and design
• Extensive experience with Python and distributed systems
• Experience in designing and building applications which enable high levels of concurrency
• Proven experience with complex SQL queries and functions
• Solid understanding of data architecture, integration and data modeling techniques
• Deep understanding of data storage paradigms, including relational and denormalized databases
• Solid understanding of data storage strategies, including sharding and denormalized indexing
• Experience in requirements engineering, data architecture, design, development and deployment
• Experience with data warehousing (especially Snowflake), ETL and related techniques & technologies is a plus
• Experience with modern cloud-based architecture leveraging AWS components and Docker

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field is a plus
