Responsibilities:Creates professional technical project and user documentation, including systems and operational proceduresGeneral Skills:Experience in the creation of technical project and user documentation, including procedures at the specified experience levelExperience with a wide range of technical writing methods, tools and techniques and knowledge of industry standards and best practicesKnowledge and experience in developing on-line documentationKnowledge and experience with at least one platformKnowledge and experience with communications protocolsKnowledge and experience with tools for the creation, distribution and maintenance of project and user documentationExcellent verbal and written communication skills; presentation skills; and interpersonal skillsAbility to communicate with cross functional teams (development, business, testers) and a wide range of audiencesAbility to create a quick start guide covering the main steps a user will followAbility to create a detailed configuration/administrative guide to users covering all details requiredExperience and ability to create a glossary or list of terms and definitions Experience with office automation suites, presentation tools, and at least one authoring packageA team player with a track record for meeting deadlinesProficiency in EnglishKnowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standardsSkilled at using standard technical writing tools such as Microsoft Office and/or Adobe Technical Communication SuiteDesirable Skills:Knowledge, understanding and experience in publishing content on websitesProficiency in FrenchStrong interviewing and listening skills to capture necessary informationAbility to learn and work with new graphic tools as requiredAbility to validate technical documentation and confirm documentation aligns with product functionalityAbility to create feedback forms/tools to gather information from usersExperienced in creating content and graphics that effectively communicate conceptual, procedural, and reference information for end-user administration, installation and configuration guides and online helpRequirementsExperience and Skill Set Requirements:PriceUser-centered Content Design:Experience designing content to meet user needs and make complex, technical language and process simple to understandAbility to discern the right information in the right format for what users needRobust experience in writing, editing, and publishing digital contentExperience in using content management systems, and content production processes to publish contentAbility to write in plain, clear language that conveys understandable and accessible informationUnderstanding of government accessibility requirements and design content with consideration for common assistive technologies, such as screenreadersAbility to use data, research, and evidence to review and evaluate content and iteratively improve content designConsistently and effectively apply content standards and style guidelines to your workUnderstand content lifecycle management and can advocate for it amongst complex groups of product/service stakeholders.Ability to contribute to content strategies and policies, including creating content patterns or standards.Ability to produce content concepts and prototyping through a variety of methods - from paper sketches to clickable prototypes.Ability to UX and Service designers with collaborative research and product design activities, such as user interviews or usability testing.Practice ego-free design: be open to giving and receiving feedback, collaborating with and supporting other designersUtilize pragmatic, thoughtful design approaches; think critically about what value design activities are bringing to a project, and strategize approach based on organizational need rather than following "textbook" solutions Communications:Strong communication skills to prepare documentation, including but not limited to; reports, reviews, assessmentsAbility to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively and in a user-friendly manner; maintain a high level of customer service to both internal and external clientsAbility to communicate content design concepts and prototypes in clear and understandable mannerAbility to communicate with technical experts and business subject matter experts to elicit key information relevant to user experience, service design, and content designHigh emotional intelligence skills, with ability to discern between various stakeholders’ interests and find reasonable compromises through consensus buildingStrong mentoring and coaching abilities; ability to convey content design concepts and methods to team members and stakeholders outside of design professions Technical Experience:Experience with custom built cloud native solutionsExperience working in an agile, sprint-based development environmentExperience writing technical operations manualsExperience writing documents and manuals for developers, architects and non-technical usersUnderstanding and working knowledge of iterative product development cyclesExperience and knowledge with microservice based architectures and systemsAdaptable, reflective, and responsive to feedback on both delivered work and delivery processExperience with medium-to-large sized product development / design projectsExperience dealing with designing content for services and products that deal with large organizational complexityExperience with leading strategy and execution on content designExperience designing interfaces with a design systemExperience creating content within organizational content standards and style guidelines
