Senior Release Management Practice Lead – Contract Position In Richmond

On behalf of our client in Richmond, Ignite Technical Resources is looking for a Senior Release Management Practice Leadwith our client for a 12-month contract opportunity.

Responsibilities
  • Communicates with key EDO stakeholders including Portfolio Management, Product development team, Release Train Engineers, Delivery and Operation Managers.
  • Creates a centralized view of all releases via appropriate tools and through close collaboration with required stakeholders.
  • Supports product delivery team and addresses interdependencies to ensure release integrity and adherence to delivery and operations milestones.
  • Develop and Conducts relevant release governance including Release Readiness reviews and Business Go/No-Go reviews.
  • Establishes a process to address the allocation of application environments, migrations, shared usage, software upgrades, service level agreements, patching, decommissioning, and re-allocation.
  • Manages data refreshes on a scheduled basis including data cleansing of sensitive data if required to maintain the current testing database.
  • Manages test environment (on-premise and cloud) usage across product delivery teams.
  • Assists product development team with establishing application environment requirements.
  • Applies automated approaches to processes and workflows promoting efficiency and reducing human dependency.
  • Contributes to the Business case development, ensuring the environment requirements are represented.
  • Provides reports on environment usage/utilization availability, forward planning, and schedules.
  • Maintains a repository for all information on an IT environment (on-premise and cloud).
  • Promotes a service-oriented approach in providing services to external and/or internal customers. Identifies follows up, and/or responds to clients’ needs and areas of concern, taking appropriate action to quickly resolve issues.
  • Monitors and contributes to team health by promoting a collaborative culture within the team and with other teams.
  • Conveys our client’s specific technical and procedural context and information while onboarding new team members.
  • Researches information and prepares detailed written reports and documentation for administrative and operational purposes.
  • Maintains current knowledge in the respective release management and environment management fields of responsibility by reviewing relevant materials and journals and maintaining appropriate professional contacts.
  • May travel on Board business.
  • Undertakes special projects or assignments as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking (vision) for Release Management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple teams.
  • Ability to facilitate effective discussion across different stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to engage teams.
  • High-level problem solving and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
  • Agile and innovative mindset.
  • Extensive background in software development and product release management.
  • Extensive background in environment management (on-premise and cloud).
  • Experience with product delivery using Agile/DevOps delivery method.
  • Experience with product delivery using a Hybrid (iterative waterfall) delivery method.
  • Advanced understanding of the software development lifecycle.
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI).
  • Experience in using Application Release Management (ARA) tools.
  • A minimum of 5 years of directly related experience.
  • An undergraduate degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have strong strategic thinking and communication skills (verbal, written, and listening), successful product delivery experience ( Agile/DevOps, Hybrid – Iterative Waterfall), proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, a customer-service orientation, and technical or business knowledge of an IT organization.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) training and certification like SAFe Practitioner, or willingness to take the course and obtain certification within 2 months from commencement of work.
  • Must reside in BC during the contract period even when working remotely and be ready to report to the office when needed.
