We are looking for a strategic communications leader who shares our passion for innovation.

Reporting to the Director of External Communications and Media Relations and working shoulder-to-shoulder with Innovation leadership, your job will be to tell our story externally in a way that inspires and engages our audiences and differentiates KPMG in the market.

With an abundance of impactful stories to tell around the way KPMG helps Canadian organizations embrace and lead change, you are excited about challenging the status quo and bringing bold, new ideas and approaches forward. You are a confident communicator who is a big picture thinker. You have demonstrated success building strong communications programs on high-profile projects. You follow key trends, know the impact of storytelling, and can tailor it to reach your audiences through the right mediums. You understand the media and know how to drive coverage, leveraging your existing relationships with newsrooms across the country.

You bring a proactive and collaborative attitude. Your 10+ years of experience and wide skillset gives you the ability to influence senior leaders and colleagues alike while also being client service-oriented and comfortable rolling up your sleeves to execute.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and execute communications strategies that demonstrate KPMG’s understanding of the rapid and profound impact technology is having on business and society
  • Support/coach executives in building/growing their external thought leadership profiles
  • Leverage various research tools to build meaningful content aligned with business objectives
  • Establish/grow relationships with key media and influencers to raise the profile of KPMG’s thought leadership, research and insights to drive strategic coverage
  • Monitor economic, social, media and industry trends to deliver timely and strategic advice
  • Build and lead communications plans that support activities across a variety of industries
  • Produce communications in a variety of mediums (i.e. POV columns, videos, social media posts, media releases, Q&A, briefing documents, emails, etc.) in multiple voices intended for target audiences
  • Train and coach KPMG spokespeople to deliver effective and impactful presentations/interviews
  • Build internal communications that inspire and engage our employees
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to support and integrate campaigns to ensure KPMG delivers a consistent and impactful voice in the market
  • Monitor the impact of communications to ensure consistent service delivery, identify areas to increase value, and bring forward creative solutions
  • Collaborate and consult with awesome colleagues in National Marketing and Communications and across the business
  • Make a difference. This is a high-impact role that will make a meaningful difference in how we communicate externally
What You Bring To The Role
  • 10+ years of experience in communications roles, with 2 to 3 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Diploma or undergraduate degree, preferably in a communications or related field
  • Experience in the Innovation and / or Technology space is an asset
  • Collaborative leadership skills with the ability to identify interesting story angles, explore bold and creative new approaches, and work with a team to implement
  • Strategic thinking - you can clearly communicate complex issues in a simplified manner to a variety of audiences
  • Great storytelling and excellent writing skills
  • Existing strong relationships with media
  • Solid understanding and experience working in various content channels (video, blogs, social, etc.) and a track record delivering high impact and engagement
  • Strong interest in the technology sector with ability to understand complex technology trends and translate into simplified messages
  • Strong initiative, planning and execution skills; strong multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality work
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships in a matrix environment
  • Dedication and motivation to deliver high standards of client service
